Man robs two drug stores for power painkiller.
TRACY,California – A man today robbed at gunpoint two Tracy drug stores of a power addictive painkiller and may be responsible for several other similar robberies.
The armed robber at about 9:15 a.m. today walked into the Walgreen Drug Store in the 1800 block of West 11th Street in Tracy,California and demanded Oxycodone and another painkiller, Matt Robinson, a Tracy spokesman, said.
About 20 minutes later the same robber hit the Abala Pharmacy in the 1400 block North Tracy Boulevard for the same drug, Robinson said.
He said the same robber hit a Long's Drug in Tracy,California about two weeks ago, and may have committed similar robberies in Stockton, Lathrop and Turlock,California.
Oxycodone is a narcotic analgesic and can be used for the relief of moderate to severe pain. It will test positive for an opiate and is similar to morphine in all respects, including in abuse and dependence issues.
Abuse escalated after a form of the drug name OxyContin was introduced in 1996. That form of the drug is known on the street as OC, OX, Oxy, Oxycotton, Hillbilly heroin, and kicker.
